3. Choose the perfect style and
texture for the room.
Aside from bringing color and pattern
to your space, rugs also add texture and
character to any room. For added warmth
and interest, consider a rug with a prominent
weave or construction style, like basket
weave or braided abaca, hand-spun jute,
or hand-knotted wool; these styles look
timeless in neutral, nature-inspired hues.
For an inviting, curated feel, try layering
two rugs on top of one another. This works
best in spacious rooms where you want to
add more interest. A large jute or abaca rug
makes a great base layer, then you can add
a rug with more personality on top. For a
global-inspired aesthetic, flat-weave kilims
look great either alone or layered with a
neutral rug.
