3. Choose the perfect style and texture for the room. Aside from bringing color and pattern to your space, rugs also add texture and character to any room. For added warmth and interest, consider a rug with a prominent weave or construction style, like basket weave or braided abaca, hand-spun jute, or hand-knotted wool; these styles look timeless in neutral, nature-inspired hues. For an inviting, curated feel, try layering two rugs on top of one another. This works best in spacious rooms where you want to add more interest. A large jute or abaca rug makes a great base layer, then you can add a rug with more personality on top. For a global-inspired aesthetic, flat-weave kilims look great either alone or layered with a neutral rug.
