Deciding on the right texture and style also depends on your rug's placement in the home. Flat-weave wool rugs are ideal for high-traffic areas, like hallways, the family room, and the kitchen. For a more luxurious option, consider a plush rug with a thicker pile in a bedroom, guest room, or sitting room. Three main styles to consider: • Hand-loomed: Usually up to two colors with a soft, thick pile; perfect for bedrooms and bathrooms. • Hand-knotted: The most labor-intensive style to create with intricate patterns made from indiviudally tied knots. These rugs are a timeless complement to living and dining rooms. • Flatweave: These no-pile rugs often have a variety of colors and patterns. The flat, durable construction makes them easy to keep clean—ideal for high-traffic areas like kitchens and entryways.
