Going to the Rowy has become a rite of passage for younger Islanders when they turn 21, as minors aren't allowed in the restaurant. The night before Thanksgiving, when many college students return to the Island, is one of the busiest evenings of the year at the Roanoke. The slogan of the Island's oldest business is "where friends meet friends."You'll find food good at good prices here, as others have for many years. A true island landmark. Freshy's Seafood Market This funky space (an old gas station) is further proof that Mercer Island is open to the unusual and in fact embraces these quirks—but only if the concept is provable. In the case of Freshy's Market it is provable—in spades. Owner/operator Bryce Caldwell uses his many connections to stock Freshy's 6 days a week with the freshest sustainable seafood you can find. The Razor Clam Chowder and Grilled Seafood Tacos are the stars on the menu but solid featured players include Fish n Chips, Po'Boy sandwiches, and salads available with your choice of True Cod, Halibut, Prawns, Oysters, Scallops, and Calamari. Choose to dine in or al fresco on the picnic tables outside or place a pick up order to take a bit of this goodness home. Also try: I Luv Pho Mo's Pizza
