Due to its' relatively small size you won't find an abundant
number of restaurants on Mercer Island but the ones you will
find are unique and have flourished with time and a devoted
local following.
EATS
Roanoke Inn Tavern
Lively pub with darts, a jukebox & outdoor
seating serving American fare plus
homemade desserts. Opened in 1914, this
historic bar used to serve folks who waited
for the old ferry a block away. It even
served them during Prohibition—booze in
coffee mugs. The Roanoke Inn doesn't take
in overnight guests anymore, though the
owners did live upstairs during the 1980s
and 1990s. The Roanoke was designated
as an official historical landmark in 1976.
Due to its heritage, charm and iconic
status, it is home to many Mercer Island
High School reunions and an annual
Veterans Day celebrations and plays an
Bennett's Bistro
Bistro dining doesn't get better than this. Conveniently
located with parking across the street and in a garage
next door, Bennett's offers plenty of seating options
inside and out including at the bar. Honest food (grass
fed meat options, locally and sustainably raised and
produced ingredients). The menu while not extensive
offers many mainstay dishes like
the Beecher's grilled cheese with
homemade chips, mac-n-cheese
and a cookies and cream delight
to make your mouth water. Try the
Rosemary lemonade while you are
here. Brunch and happy hour's at
Bennett's are favorites of the those
in the know.
