S
eattle Selfie Museum is way
different than the other fun things
to do in Seattle because it's simple,
fun, and a place built for the 21st
century digital nomad.
This museum of self indulgence is located
just past the legendary Gum Wall in
Pike Place Market, in a nondescript, gray
building. Inside, like theater sets awaiting
actors, a series of decorated booths
anticipates participants. If you've run out
of exciting backgrounds for your Instagram
selfies and you've got $30 to throw at the
problem, you can pose in front of kitschy/
Kusama-like backgrounds at this pop-up.
At this museum visitors will soon seize the
few-dozen candy-colored booths to craft
the perfect Instagram shots. There are no
placards displaying artist names or dates,
no security guards telling you to back off,
only aides who ensure the ring light (the
preferred selfie light) nicely illuminates
your features. At this museum, for roughly
$30, the visitor is the masterpiece—at least
for the allotted 60 minutes.
