The Unity of
Forest Living
Without a sense of caring there can be no sense of community.
—Anthony J. D'Angelo
I
n my relatively short time living in
Tehaleh I have found this saying
to be very accurate. After moving
into our house over Christmas 2017
I have on many occasions awoken
to the sound of snow being
shoveled from my driveway to find my
neighbor Sean bundled up and doing
the "heavy lifting". My daughter has
received numerous rides to school
on raining days
from these same
neighbors, I have
shared brown sugar
with them and
then an hour later
they shared their
delicious creation,
a still warm banana
muffin that was
the best I have ever tasted. One day
last fall after I had sent my daughter
off to school she returned within 10
minutes, I asked her why and she said
that she forgotten her book report and
turned around to come back and get it.
By this time there were no other kids
walking to school and she was alone,
my neighbor Sara saw her walking
home and picked her up in
