Describing her style as a "traditional/cozy" Nikki has made the most of the porch space as it has become a sort of central meeting spot for the neighborhood kids. "We had 7 neighborhood kids on our porch today, a lot of kids hang out on our porch from the neighborhood, they use the tables for snacks, drinks or coloring. The desk is used for projects, playing school! They often use the many pillows for lounging on the rug while playing board games," she says. The porch also serves as a space for overflow during more adult get-togethers and she enjoys dessert on the couch with her husband or friends that might pop by at the end of the day. While incorporating key pieces, Nikki notes that the space has evolved over time. "We started with a couch that we could afford, which wasn't much at the time but it was and still is functional, next we added a rug to make it feel more like a room, then the next year layered another one on top of it. We added pillows for comfort and design in neutral colors to save money. Using accessories in neutrals makes it easy to reuse for every season," Nikki says.
