Bumbershoot is one of Seattle's largest cultural touchstones. Each year, thousands of people across the country flock to Seat- tle to attend this acclaimed Festival, which has become one of the most unique and best-loved contemporary festivals in North America. Bumbershoot's diverse program- ming includes live music, comedy, theatre, film, visual arts, dance performance, and more. Little ones like to get in on the act as well. Youngershoot was implemented to make this festival appealing to not only the wild singles but families as well. The Younger- shoot Kids Zone is curated by the Seattle Children's Museum, and features interactive programming, special per- formances, and a range of arts-based activities such as painting stations, building and architectural activities that draw inspiration from Se- attle's iconic architecture, and collaborative recycled art. The Youngershoot Kids Zone is open daily, and is only accessible to children 10 and under accompanied by a guardian. Every year since 1972 the Northwest Folklife Festival has descended upon Seattle Center over Memorial Day Weekend. This annual festival is the largest community-powered arts and culture festival in the United States. Drawing nearly 250,000 people over just four days, Northwest Folklife has programmed over 5,000 performers from more than 65 different genres of music, from Hawaiian to Hip-Hop and dance performances representing cultures from Ireland to India. Don't miss The Discovery Zone with your little ones. This family-friendly hot spot will be packed with all kinds of hands-on workshops and activities that young Festival-goers have grown to love. bumbershoot folk life
