10 12 SET UP A KIDS TABLE Sure you may have lingering feelings about being seated at the "kids" table when you were 17 and the oldest of all your cousins - but times have changed...... we are wiser, we come prepared. With a few colored pencils or easy activities, kid friendly desserts (like cupcakes), they will welcome the chance to dine away from the adults. And let's be real, if they the "kids" are 17 chances are that they will disappear into a corner with their phone anyway. ENTERTAIN THE KIDS So the grown-ups can kick back with the sangría, have some diversions for the kids: plenty of blowing bubbles, perhaps a sprinkler or a Slip 'n Slide, and beach balls. You can also buy a few inexpensive disposable cameras and let kids serve as official event photographers. 11 CINEMA EXTÉRIEUR Create an outdoor cinema in your backyard. Investing in a projector can pay dividends in the summer months. Set up your projector (note you may need a convertor for Mac's) and hang a white sheet over a clothesline between two trees. Use patio furniture, pillows or blankets on the ground for seating. Popcorn and beer is enough to make a night of it for the adults. However, an outdoor movie is also a great idea to keep the kiddos entertained after dark. Have them slip into their pajamas and snuggle up in some soft blankets. With a bit of pre-planning and prepping your outdoor party will be stress free for you and a memorable summer soiree for your guests.
