154 costumes for the production, not counting duplicates for roles filled by different-sized dancers in the opposite cast. PNB's costume shop wasn't big enough to fit everyone, so production expanded to the shops at Seattle Children's Theatre and Seattle Repertory Theatre. 60 LBS, 10 feet wide hides eight tiny dancers — Mother Ginger's skirt. 140 students dancing 70 roles in two separate casts that will divide the 36 performances. Most of the students attend three to five weekly rehearsals in addition to three regular classes. The Christmas Star is from the Chandelier series by Dale Chihuly. 98 Yards of "fur" have been used to create the mice. They have a total of 230 whiskers. Each adult tail consists of 25 segments. Each ear is made up of six pieces. W hen Clara and the Nutcracker Prince sail off to the Land of Sweets, they will do so in a boat that shares its intricate wrinkles and coloration with a real walnut. Remarkable attention to detail runs through the entire production. 343 gallons of paint were used in the painting of the scenery. 400 hours required to build the 40 foot growing tree. It has 450 lights on it. There are 22 painted drops. 3,000 square Yards of fabric were used in the creation of the scenery.
