A more straightforward recipe, this is a great option if you're looking for something simple, fun, and kid friendly. Ingredients • 6-8 apples of your choice, washed and dried • 2 tablespoons corn syrup • 2 tablespoons water • 1/2 cup granulated sugar • 1/4 cup heavy cream • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract • Black food coloring • 2 tablespoons butter Method 1. In a medium saucepan boil sugar, water, and corn syrup until it turns a light amber color, then remove. 2. Stir in heavy cream, vanilla and food coloring. 3. Add butter last and stir until smooth. 4. Transfer into deep bowl. 5. Dip each apple and rotate till covered. 6. Place on a baking sheet to chill for 1 hour to set. 7. Serve and enjoy! *collect a few small twigs and stick into each apple core for a gnarly touch. Ingredients • 6-8 fresh, red organic apples • 4 cups milk • 2 cups granulated sugar • 1/2 cup unsalted butter • A few drops black food coloring Method 1. Prepare and wash all apples. 2. Put 1 cups of sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and stir until sugar is melted. 3. When sugar has a golden brown color (careful not to burn), pour in milk with remaining 1 cup of sugar. 4. Stir for about 1 hour over medium-high heat. 5. Once a caramel-like texture manifests, remove from heat and add butter. 6. While still hot, add black food coloring until desired color is achieved. 7. Place caramel in a deep bowl. 8. Dip apples and place on a baking sheet. 9. Chill for at least 30-60 minutes to set caramel. (If desired, add a sprinkling of nuts while still warm). 10.Serve and enjoy!
