There are plenty of things to explore in Seattle (Eastside, Snohomish, Whidbey Island) but if you wanted to get out and about there are also many places to visit nearby. No matter where your interests lie, there's a summer day trip that's perfect for you. Nature lovers can visit one of the many beautiful parks or gardens in the area, while visitors looking for a small town experience have plenty to choose from. So grab your sunscreen, hat and wanderlust and hit the road for the perfect summer day trip. Day Trippin' 1 hr 35 min Bellingham Known for its magnificent scenery and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, Bellingham is the northernmost city in the contiguous United States and has a population of more than 50,000. Popular summer activities include hiking, fishing, and biking. Oyster Dome Hike Osyter Dome hike isn't the best hike in Bellingham without reason: The grade is steep, but the panoramic views are legendary and there's no better place to enjoy sun on a summer day. On clear days, you'll spot the white-capped tips of the Olympic Mountains, reminding folks that even though they live on the bay, there's an entire mountain range between them and the Pacific Ocean.
