ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS With row of houses and mostly flat terrain (at the top of the hill) the Issaquah Highlands is the perfect topography for trick-or-treaters. Throw in the fact that the neighbor really goes all out in terms of decorating and the streets are filled with families resembling a Norman Rockwell painting and this is a little bit of small town charm just minutes from the city. THE LAKES (ON MERCER ISLAND) Touted as the most celebrated of Mercer Island haunts the Halloween spirit is massive at The Lakes on Mercer Island. Each house gets about 1,500 trick-or-treaters in this figure eight shaped neighborhood. Homeowners take Halloween night's entertainment seriously with elaborate graveyard displays, popcorn and smoke machines at some houses around this neighborhood. They sometimes ask for a food donation from visitors at the entry, but it's well worth it for a night of safe, festive Halloween fun. SNOQUALMIE RIDGE The main streets running through central Snoqualmie Ridge (Douglas, Ridge, Fairway, Curtis) get A LOT of foot traffic - a LOT. Start early before newer residents experience the unexpected and run out of candy. Many activities in the area including haunted houses (and not so scary ones as well for the tiny tots). Wear your favorite costumes andenjoy the fall festivities at the Halloween Train departing the Snoqualmie Depot.
