After the pooches wear themselves out, head over to the nearby dog friendly watering holes - Oak Forest Chill or the aforementioned Cottonwood to cool down with some cold ones. But this park is more than just a dog park, the kiddos too can enjoy the public pool, baseball field and playground. If you are into disc golf T. C. Jester Park has one of the only parks in Houston. The course is spread throughout the park and offers a variety of challenges. Watch pro-like players launching their discs straight across the bayou or get in a little practice yourself. Either way this is a fun and inexpensive way to spend an active afternoon. Nestled in a residential neighborhood near the intersection of West 43rd Street and West T.C. Jester Boulevard, you'll find Candlelight Park. Consisting of 9.53 acres which house a community center, basketball pavilion and an extensive playground area a great alternative for indoor play in the warmer summer months. Magnum Manor Park is a well-kept secret in the Magnum Manor neighborhood. Amenities include a full-featured playground, multiple water fountains, picnic tables, a tennis court, squash/practice court, workout equipment and an asphalt-paved track with an innter 1/3 mile and outer 1/4 mile route. A tennis court and 1/2 mile running/jogging trails winding around the park as well as a baseball field, playground and plenty of shaded pcinic areas and water fountains make this a gem. Throw in the baseball diamond and the fact that this nearly 7-acre parkland is well-lit at night and this is one little gem that you must check out. Honorable Mentions: Shepherd Park Forest West Park Whiteoak Bayou
