DEFINE THE AREA
Use patio umbrellas or canopies
to define an eating area with style.
Consider setting up tables in separate
areas say drinks in one spot, dessert
in another this will encourage guests
to roam and mingle.

KEEP IT SIMPLE
For a backyard picnic think salads, fresh fruit, cold drinks. Think
of grilling? Prep skewers ahead of time for an easy, stress free
evening. Remember the vegetarians and prep a few skewers
with either a "meaty" fish that will stay on the skewer, such as
swordfish, shrimp, or only veggies. They will
appreciate it. Note it's a good idea to say
something on your invite along the lines
of 'grill master at work from 5-6'. This way
your guests know what general time dinner
will take place and you are not stuck behind
the grill all night playing catch up with late
comers.
