1. Wedged With Wood There is something so warm and cozy in a fireplace filled with logs. Not only does it add warmth, it creates a natural rustic look as well. 2. Rustic Display Not loving the log idea, but still wanting to go for a rustic look? hop onto the antler trend by creating an artful antler arrangement. 3. Book Nook If your fireplace never worked (and never will), there's no reason to pretend otherwise. Put the interior space to work by installing shelves to store books or display a collection. For even more punch, brush on a few coats of saturated color, like the bright blue shown here. 4. Toy Corner A fireplace may seem too stiff or austere in a child's room, but when filled with toys it gets a light fresh makeover. 5. Reflections of Space If you have a small space, try placing a mirror inside your unused fireplace, it will bounce the light and make your room feel larger. 6. Candles In the winter months opt for the easy glow of fire without the mess of ash by duplicating the glow and flickering with candles. Low maintenance and yet still cozy.
