When you think of classic Christmas decor, you are likely picturing the rustic simplicity of the Scandinavian style. To get this handmade look, use decorations made from natural materials such as salt dough, basket weave and felt embroidery in subdued colors. When decorating in the Scandinavian style consider the outdoors and your one stop shop. Some of the most textural, organic Christmas tree decorations can be found right outside your door. When decorating in this style consider creating a truly one of a kind item by way of re- purposing items you already have on hand - baskets, books, etc. When adding clusters of ornaments to your tree feature a few made from pine cones dipped in white paint. The paint adds a nice contrast while the rough texture of the pine cones themselves helps bring in an organic feel. Paper whites in rustic pots or vintage glass containers add to this theme as do trees potted in old wine crates or baskets. scandinavian
