Queen Anne Library
This cozy neighborhood library is housed
in a 1914 building funded by Andrew Carn-
egie. The building followed one of Andrew
Carnegie's preferred designs for libraries -
main-floor reading areas and a lower-level
auditorium. Its general architectural style is
Late Tudor Revival. Tall ceilings, expansive
leaded glass windows, and hanging lamps
contribute to a sense of spaciousness. Rich
detailing and use of golden oak throughout
the interior add to the warm, historic feel of
the branch.
The structure, renovated in 2007, is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places and
has been named a landmark by Seattle's
Landmarks Preservation Board. Although
not the quietest of libraries (nor the big-
gest) it is a nice spot to hunker down for
those wanting to work from home - away
from home.

West Queen Anne Playfield
The community really comes together at
this six-acre park, known to locals as
'Big
Howe'.
Located across the street from
McClure Middle School to the north and
Queen Anne Community Center and
Pool to the east. Its fenced-in grass fields,
with baseball backstops and bleachers, are
used for baseball, softball, and soccer. Out-
side the fence, a partially wheelchair-acces-
sible children's play area includes swings,
slides, a merry-go-round, and a climbing
structure. There are benches nearby and a
bicycle rack. Warm summer nights will find
parents cheering on little league teams or
ushering kiddos out of the indoor swimming
pool wet hair and smiles. The community
center is a hub of tot classes and activities
year round.
East Queen Anne Playfield
A little sister to West Queen Anne Play-
field and often referred to as 'Little Howe'
this park is a hub for after pre-school play-
dates. Covering 1.4 acres the park offers a
playground with slides, climbing features,
a whirl, regular and baby swings, and a
wading pool. Conveniently there are also
bathroom facilities, a soccer field, and a
sandbox. There are also lots of comfortable
benches for parents to keep an eye on the
kids from. In the summer months plan a
picnic and arrive early for the wading pool.
With all there is to do and see visitors should
make Queen Anne a must while in Seattle.
