I t's been said Seattle is America's best city to spend the summer, with our mild weather and abundant happenings here, I must say that I agree. In this issue you'll find ideas and tips to enjoy this season so treasured by natives and newcomers alike. Seattle hosts several public Fourth of July fireworks shows, so grab a picnic dinner and pick a celebration from our guide. Back at home, Seattle's long-but-not-too-hot days allow for fantastic outdoor entertaining, start the evening off with one of our featured bruchetta recipes and end the evening with a classic summer favorite - s'mores. Mark This issue's Pause for the Cause may change how you view pigs and farm animals, and a road trip to Stanwood may be in your summer plans. Pigs Peace Sanctuary helps, heals, and heralds the hearts of these smart creatures. Read the story of Judy Woods and how her first pig Fern inspired this exceptional sanctuary. Hotter than our weather is Seattle's housing market. Remember, though: buying a home is still quite doable, prepare yourself by checking out our tips for buying in this unusual market. Finally, this month the neighborhood spotlight shines brightly on Queen Anne's old-world elegance. You'll read how this thriving community meets the demands of a rapidly gentrifying city and embraces the differences between what many call "upper" and "lower" Queen Anne. As we go to print, Seattle is poised to enjoy a week straight of 90-degree weather. And still there's no city I'd rather be in. Happy summer, Mark Corcoran Windermere Real Estate Co.
