S equim Valley has become known as "America's Provence" where the mountains roll down to the sea and lavender grows in abundance. During the month of July Sequim hosts a 3 day Lavender Festival - one of the best summer festivals in the Pacific Northwest and it's all just a quick and scenic jaunt from Seattle. Once ashore on Washington's Olympic Peninsula you will enjoy sunshine, picture-perfect farm houses (don't forget your camera), and white-capped mountains in the distance. The annual festival celebrates the beauty and usefulness of this sweet-smelling herb annually during its peak bloom season and includes three days of lavender farm tours, community fairs, food (think lavender ice cream) & drink (lavender margaritas are not to be missed) along with live bands and other special events. Pick your own lavender, purchase distilled lavender oil or handmade soaps from one of the many gift shops. Artists booths, wine tours and children crafts are also prevalent at the many farms. This weekend is all about the lavender. DAY TRIPP ' N Lovely Lavender
