DECORATING THE MANTEL for the holiday's can be fun and easy if you follow a few basic rules. The best-looking mantels follow a loose decorating formula: something pretty (artwork or flowers), something reflective (cue the mirror), something personal (a collection of favorite objects). Don't forget to layer various sizes and heights to add interest to your mantel. Try stacking pumpkins or ornaments on vintage books, or stack items on mercury candle pillars in either silver or gold. Ready for some inspiration? Get your glitter on and experiment with glitter pumpkins. Bring in purples and blacks for an extra spooky mantel. See more glittery ideas here. Try incorporating white pumpkins on your mantel this year to give a clean look. You can scour the store for the right sizes or paint them yourself. For a look that enables some geometric creativity try using a black sharpie on your ghostly pumpkin. Even if you don't have a "mantel", you can decorate a side table or shelf for the season! See Circus Berry for ideas. Fall Decorating for fall doesn't have to be expensive - or dominated by orange. Get creative and throw in some of nature's gifts or work outside of the expected color palette. Display bright colored branches in classic autumn hues, and let nature speak for itself — or bling it out DIY style by adding glitter to your pumpkins. If fall to you is more of a trick-or-treat vibe check out some spooky mantels concoctions here: Traditionally nothing says fall like bright orange pumpkins. Decorating your mantel can be as easy as lining up a row of the pretty colorful gourds! holiday MANTEL
