Managing Holiday Deliveries W hether you live in an apartment, condo or house, holiday deliveries can turn into a game of UPS tag when the season gets busy. Between the work, holiday parties, charity events, school functions, vacations and of course shopping and wrapping there seems to be no time to hang around at home waiting for that elusive package. Tired of seeing those "sorry we missed you, we'll try again" tags? Even homeowners aren't immune to delivery woes - ever had a package stolen from your own front porch? With a little forethought and planning, anyone can get a grip on their home deliveries and grab their packages exactly when they want. Here are a few ways to make that happen. Get a P.O. Box Post office boxes can receive packages from any service and are usually accessible to their owners around the clock (or at least for longer hours than the front office in your building). Sign up at the source Both UPS and FedEx allow customers to manage their home deliveries through services UPS My Choice and FedEx Delivery Manager. Sign up for a free account to virtually sign for packages, re-route deliveries, request a new delivery time, or have packages delivered to a retail UPS or FedEx location. Deliver to a friendly neighbor If you're good friends with a work-from-home type — whether they live down the hall or down the street — have important packages delivered to their address so you can grab them after hours. If you have a community office in your building, you can also authorize friends or family members to pick up packages in your name during office hours. With hundreds of new apartments and condo units on the way, West Seattle may be Seattle's fastest- growing neighborhood. The Seattle Times reports that the two top-gentrifying census tracts are in West Seattle — one containing the new High Point planned community, and the other in the South Delridge/Westwood area. Live near the Morgan Junction or the Alaska Junc- tion, and you can ditch the car on date night or even for Sunday afternoon errands: dozens of restaurants and shops are a ten-minute walk. Metro's Rapid Ride C whisks you downtown—albeit on standing- room-only coaches—in about fifteen minutes, and the Fauntleroy Ferry sails you to directly to Vashon or South when you need to get away from the masses. But why get away when you've got so much on the west side, just over the bridge?
