Your Front Door Whether you are living in an expansive estate or a tiny apartment, your main entry is considering the "Mouth of Ch'i" or the "Breath of Life;" the most important part of your home, just like breathing is vital to sustain human life. You want to attract Ch'i (energy) into your home, so that it circulates around each room and brings health, wealth and good fortune. In order to do that, your front door should be visible from the street. The path to get to your door should be obvious, as well as being well-lit. In order to welcome the Ch'i inside, your front yard, porch and entry should all be clean and well maintained. Other Interior Doors • Doors should open to provide the person entering a room to achieve the widest view possible. • Doors in direct alignment facing one another in a hallway are best. • Doorknobs that knock together can create family conflicts. • The Chinese avoid 3 or more doors (or windows) in a row. • Doors represent adults in your household, so eliminating a door might mean someone is going to move out, or even pass on.
