T
o state the obvious (that this is a strange and
stressful time) would be, well.....obvious. Instead,
we would like to reflect on all the ways that our global
community has stepped up to help each other during this
pandemic. From superstars giving concerts in their living
rooms and others putting their talents on display by way
of Shakespearean readings, or expedient entrepreneurial
products to benefit first responders, to neighbors
helping neighbors with drive by birthday and graduation shout outs,
family connections through Zoom, and even husbands stepping in as
hairdressers for their wives. This has been a time of struggle to varying
degrees, but we have seen people step up to help in so many ways big
and small. This special double issue will celebrate the fortitude that we
have been witness to.
A very special thanks to those who are on the front lines giving
everything they have—the first responders whose commitment and
resolve is nothing short of inspirational. Also a big thanks to the
essential workers, who also put themselves in harm's way.
