JUANITA BAY PARK
Juanita Bay Park is a retreat for
runners, bird-watchers, and casual
walkers looking to enjoy the scenic
wetlands. Dedicated to preserving
the natural beauty of the area
and environment the Juanita Bay
Park offers guided tours on the
first Sunday of each month. This
habitat is filled with wildlife and
spills over into the 110 acres of
preserved wetlands and marshes.
JUANITA BEACH PARK
Juanita Beach Park (different
than the Juanita Bay Park
mentioned above) underwent
a huge rehab a few years back
creating new wetlands, quality
marshes and a formation of re-
graded lawn areas with improved
drainage and irrigation systems.
This beach park is the perfect spot
to enjoy swimming (lifeguards
on duty during the summer),
afternoon BBQs, baseball, tennis,
and even fishing. If you want to get
out and be active consider renting
a paddle board or kayak from the
near-by SUP SHACK.
Put your running shoes on and explore
the 3,000 linear feet of running
trails while you observe ospreys, red
winged blackbirds and blue martins..
Seemingly in the middle of the city
yet it feels hundreds of miles away.
During the summer Juanita
Beach Park is the site of a Friday
afternoon farmer's market which
draws people from the community.
HOUGHTON BEACH PARK
Houghton Beach Park is yet
another waterfront park offering
beautiful views and a myriad of
things to do and explore. Situated
3.8 acres of prime Lake Washington
waterfront, many consider this to be the
most romantic park in Kirkland. The 75
foot-dock is ideal for a stroll, a picnic
or even for casting a line. Next to the
dock you will find a non motorized boat
launch for canoeing or kayaking. The
dock also forms a shelter for a shallow
water swimming area for children. And
now back to that romantic part -at dusk
feast your eyes on the Seattle skyline
as the
sun sets
over the
Olympic
Mountains.
