KIRKLAND PERFORMANCE CENTER
The notion of building a theatre in
Kirkland germinated from Village Theatre's
search for a new facility in the mid-1980s.

time the spot had been secured the Village
PARKPLACE BOOKS
Parkplace Books is one of Kirkland's most
beloved community treasures located in
downtown Kirkland. Throughout the year,
Parkplace Books hosts authors, community book
clubs, and is always available to help you find
just the right book.
Theatre had found a new home in Issaquah,
leaving the founders in Kirkland to decide
in which direction to go. They proceeded
on with the plans. The campaign to build
Kirkland Performance Center was the work
of hundreds of volunteers and visionary
leaders who, over a ten-year period, raised
$5,800,000 from nearly one thousand
donors.
Designed by Becker Architects, the theatre
took nearly a year and a half to build,
opening its' doors in June of 1998.
With seating capacity topped at 397 the
theatre is spacious, yet retains an intimate
feel. The farthest seat is just 13 rows - 40
feet - from the stage; the steep rake of
the house provides excellent sightlines
throughout the theatre. Both musical and
spoken word performances take place at
this beloved theatre.
