S ome say that home is not a place, but rather a feeling. I believe this to be true, but as I was deciding on a home, in order to cultivate those aforementioned "feelings" there was a lot to contemplate. What neighborhood, what size, and of course what price range. When I first started looking at home builders in the Tehaleh area I looked at HC Homes, Azure, Pulte, Brookstone and Richmond. I was drawn to Pulte, specifically the Lakeview model because of the slanted roof lines—I preferred a more modern, less traditional aesthetic. Ironically enough, I was searching for a home bigger than the 2,700 square feet we ended up with, however after living here for just over 2 years I have come to the realization that this home is simply too large for my daughter and I. While we love having a guest room and private Build Review • PULTE HOMES • bathroom downstairs for when my mom visits, the other times it just sits empty with the door closed. The 3rd bedroom upstairs is primarily used to store the 298,784,983 stuffies that my daughter has outgrown. There are some things that I would have done differently had I known more. Having only ever owned a condo (in my mid 20's) I felt like a first-time homebuyer with this house and I came in hot with an over abundance of ideas about what I wanted in this home; some ideas were attainable while others fell away due to cost or the inability to push it past the builder. While the house was being built I kept it a secret from my daughter. Up until we moved here she had only ever lived in apartments, first in downtown Seattle and then in lower Bonney Lake. On Christmas Built in 2017 • model: Lakeview • 2,700 square feet 4 bedrooms plus loft / 3 baths • 2 car garage
