managed expectations. Since the beginning of our occupancy I have been slowly incorporating small details into our home with the goal of getting far away from the cookie cutter abode that we moved into just over 2 years ago. As time and money have allowed (I always wait for sales on large purchases) details such as wallpaper and lighting fixtures have been added. I have brought in quirky pieces of art and new furniture that I feel will not only serve me well in this house but future homes as well. Overall, I am very happy with this Pulte home and although I would have enjoyed wood flooring throughout, a steam shower and heated bathroom floors, those luxuries are perhaps to be had later at a different (smaller) house with a larger backyard for more dogs. For now, I enjoy the time spent here with my sassy 11 year-old—enjoying each other and building our life in the home she will later refer to as "the house I grew up in". Unknowingly we started a tradition that first year on Christmas Eve. Each year we dine on paper plates and eat delivered pizza by the fire, even though our house is now filled with creature comforts. Especially on this night as we reflect over the year gone by, we still consider ourselves to be lucky and are so grateful to be here. I hope that my daughter takes the special moments I strive to make with her and remembers that our home is not merely a place but indeed a feeling. Christmas Eve 2017
