Kathryn B y now you've heard it many times, it's a new decade! I open my arms wide to welcome 2020 with all the uncertainty and possibility that it brings. New years always conjures up the idea of change for the better. It seems a natural choice at the beginning of anything to want to set ourselves up for success—thus resolutions and organizing have become synonymous with new years and new beginnings. The ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year's resolutions, some 4,000 years ago. They made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. The Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January is named. While I can't say for sure if I have anything borrowed in my house that has not been returned, I can say that putting an organization plan in place for the year will certainly help me find the aforementioned borrowed item(s), if they are in fact here. In this issue of Maison Magazine we offer you a plan of action to get organized in 2020—breaking it down in doable chunks month by month. By 2021 you should be well on your way to meeting any organizational goals you set for yourself a few weeks ago. We'll also touch on Bridge Loans, for when you're ready for a change but need a little time to make it happen. This issue's Instagram Inspiration highlights ten unique artists working in various art forms to bring style and pizzazz to home interiors. And what would new beginnings be (or our January issue) without the discussion of Pantone's Color of the Year? Explore this classic blue with us to see what this hue evokes and how to use it in your own decor. As always, we'll button it up with market stats to keep you in the know. Cheers to the past, cheers to the future! Happy 2020! Kathryn Lerner Broker, SRES, Luxury Marketing Specialist
