A lbert Camus said 'Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower'. I think that is true. Fall has a way of showing us the beauty of transformation, of allowing us to view changes as not good or bad, just different. The way that a snow fall is beautiful without thinking of icy road conditions, the way that a sunny day is inviting without thinking of sunscreen and sunburns, the way that spring showers can be refreshing instead of a muddy mess. Fall too has a way of welcoming us with warm cozy sweaters, hot beverages in hand and a color palette of rich purples, vibrant oranges and deep reds, offerings for us to observe and appreciate. In this issue of Highlands Maison we explore all the wonder that is fall. We'll take a look at fall foliage hikes and sights in Western Washington, the seasonal color explosions of maple trees and mums, and of course infusing our home decor with those dazzling hues that are representative of the season. We'll talk tailgate parties, Halloween cookies and day tripp'n to Lake Cresent. Of course no issue would be complete without a local slant, in this edition we highlight fun fall decor as seen throughout the Tehaleh 'hood. Be inspired, beware, be prepared to fall in love with fall. Nicki Nicki Callahan, Editor Highlands Maison Magazine maison HIGHLANDS
