or the past year, I've been learning
to surf at the same time as I've been
learning to paint waves. At times
this process has been frustrating, I've felt
stumped. I've gotten really scared. I've
crawled out of the water and sat on the
beach with tears in my eyes. I've sat in my
studio frustrated at the stupid wave I'm
trying to paint that doesn't look right. But
at the same time, It's been pretty epic to
discover the ocean for the first time both in
physical and creative dimensions. Because
when I finally catch that wave, or finally
paint it the way I want it to look, it's the
best feeling ever... and I can't help paddling
back out for more. The most rewarding
feelings come from the greatest struggles.
