St. Paddy's Day Run in Tacoma: March 16 While Tacoma doesn't have a parade or a large Irish festival, it does have a run open to varying fitness levels. There's a kids' run, 5K, 10K and half marathon, which is part of the Crown of the Sound series. The course is located in North Tacoma. Put on your finest greenery and join the fun. To Celebrate the Arrival of Spring and the Irish in us all! It began in 1985 as a race between bars and as a training event for an Irish Olympian. Now, it's Seattle's largest single-distance run where the winners cross the finish before the last person starts. The Dash fills 5 kilometers of Seattle streets with a rippling ribbon of green, starting and finishing at Seattle Center, winding through downtown Seattle along 4th Ave, filling the entire street with Irish spirit. And just for kids ten and under, the nearly 1K Leprechaun Lap will start bright and early, at 8 a.m. Awards are presented for "Best Decorated Stroller" and "Best Young Leprechaun" and fun leprechaun-themed activities will continue at the finish line and on the Fisher Pavilion lawn, so be sure to stick around for after-race festivities!
