the elements of a traditional tequila shot—a
lick of salt and a wedge of lime—and turned
them into a refreshing drink thus creating
the world's first margarita.
Another top contender for the inventor
title is Margarita Sames, a wealthy Dallas
socialite who claimed she whipped up the
drink for friends at her Acapulco vacation
home in 1948. Among her well-connected
guests was Tommy Hilton, who eventually
added the drink to the bar menu at his
hotel chain.
Cocktail fads may come and go, but the
margarita's popularity has remained steady
since its invention, whenever and wherever
2 Servings
Ingredients
coarse salt
4 ounces tequila
1 ounce Triple Sec
2 ounces blue curacao
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
lime wedges, for garnish
that was.And with so many varieties from

line: If you're planning to waste away in
Margaritaville anytime soon, you've got a
lot of great cocktail possibilities.
Now Blue Margaritas!
Blue Margaritas don't taste that different
from the classic but they're so pretty! The
blue comes from the curacao which tastes
similar to Triple Sec and is primarily used
for color. Also, quite inexpensive at the
liquor store so don't let the 3 different
types of booze scare you away from making
this one.
Directions
1. Using 1 lime wedge for each
glass, rub each rim. Dip rim in
a plate of salt.
2. Combine tequila, Triple
Sec, blue curacao, lime juice
and simple syrup in shaker,
fill with ice cubes, and shake
vigorously for 30 seconds.
Strain the margarita into
glasses filled with ice. Garnish
with lime wedges if desired.
