farmers markets on a regular basis. That's
how the love affair began. During the
2010 farmers market season, she began to
take a few photos with her iPhone began
talking to the farmers and farm interns
that she met. "I became a better cook by
talking to them about how they prepared
their vegetables and was inspired by their
incredible dedication and hard work. It may
seem cliché to say, but wanting to know
the people who grew my food inspired it
all." Mulkern says. " My photography has
now evolved to occasionally involve a 'real'
camera but the subjects remain the same:
farmers, farms, and their beautiful food."
Through "The Female Farmer Project"
you will meet strong, driven women with
a passion for farming. Women such as
Christina Miller who along with her husband
and three sons started Green Bow Farm in
2012. They rotationally graze poultry, sheep,
and cattle on 23 acres in Kittitas Valley,
Washington. In addition to pasture raised
eggs and grass-fed meats they produce
fiber products and rich compost that helps
them grow fruits and vegetables for their
family and hopefully added value foods to
sell at farmers markets in the future.
