A s another summer slowly slips by I take a long and lingering look back at these past few weeks and am grateful for the time I have been able to have this summer —relaxing and enjoying. Yes, the summers are the busiest time in property management, and this year has been no exception, but this year I promised myself that I would slow down at least for a little while and spend some meaningful moments with those that I love. Often times, for myself anyway, I get so focused on work and running on the hamster wheel that I look around and years have passed with no meaningful memories made. This summer I vowed to make a change. We took a short road trip from Seattle through Ogden, Utah where my daughter indulged me as I took her to the homes I grew up in, met with dear High School friends and then made our way to Park City where we rode the Alpine Slide and dominated Pub Trivia. Yep, it's true, two gals with slightly elevated knowledge of Shakespeare, Disney songs and 90's rock were able to bring home the gold (or in this case the Starbucks gift card). We slept in a tree house in Orderville, rode horses in Tucson, watched an old fashioned shoot out in Tombstone and ended our epic road trip with a day at Universal Hollywood. At the end of the 10 days we were both exhausted, but at the same time we both had a revival of spirit. Two gals driving more than 3,000 miles felt like an accomplishment with my mini partner in crime. It was a memory made and stored in the happy place of our minds. As the summer turns its back I encourage you to throw yourself into at least a day trip. From personal experience I would highly recommend Lake Crescent. Just a short drive away yet it feels like another world. I write about it in this issue and offer a few suggestions for the area— lodging, dining, hiking. You won't be disappointed. But don't stop reading there, another article Moving With Children also comes from my recent experience, if you are facing the same sort of challenge be sure to read this informative blurb—complete with book suggestions that may help ease the nerves and quiet the fear in your little ones (and yourself). What would Maison Magazine be without a decor article? I hear ya, so in this issue let's look at the ever classic blue—versatile, timeless and chic. So much more to do and see as the summer winds down— throw your tablet in your bag and take us along on your adventures! Nicki Callahan Property Manager Windermere Property Management Nicki
